Dear David,

We have entered a new year.  With that, we wish you and your family God's abundant blessings!

Although, times are uncertain, God is and always will be our Rock, refuge, and strong fortress.  We just experienced the strongest earthquake we've ever felt during our time in Nicaragua and Costa Rica.  It was a magnitude 6.1 on the Richter scale.  The epicenter was about 30-40 miles from our house.  Sometimes when people fly or are on a boat in the water, their thoughts turn to being on the ground because it's solid, immovable.   As we learned on January 8th, that is not the case.  Even the ground may not be immovable!   There is One who is, though.

The only solid ground that exists is the solid rock of Jesus Christ.  There are so many times in the Bible that God is referred to as our rock.  After experiencing the earthquake we just did, we can relate to those verses so well.   Truly He is the only One we can count on.   And He is more than strong enough to hold us and keep us!

Psalms 62:2 NIV
"He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken."

May you have the peace this year that you can have only through building your life on the Solid Rock.
