Children's Programs

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

In keeping with Mark 10:14, at Kingswood we offer our youngest attendees many interesting ways to learn about the love of Jesus Christ, and encourage them to build a lifelong relationship with him.  In the process, they also enjoy numerous ways to share their talents, have fun and make new friends.

Sunday mornings are active ones for children at Kingswood.  At 9:45 a.m., preschoolers and kindergartners (ages 2 – 5) gather together for a “Little Angels” choir rehearsal, where they have the chance to practice for periodic performances.  Following rehearsals, they move to individual classrooms where the biblically based Cokesbury curriculum is used, incorporating many fun, age-appropriate activities to reinforce weekly lessons.

Elementary aged children also meet at 9:45 a.m. for assembly, and then at 10:00 a.m. divide into groups that rotate through different workshops.  Each month the workshops typically focus on a specific Bible story.

For parents, Kingswood offers nursery services on Sundays from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for infants through two-year-olds.  Following the Children’s Sermon at the 11:00 a.m. service Worship Care is provided for three-year-olds through kindergartners in rooms 108 and 113.

Of course, being a committed Christian is not limited to just Sundays and with that in mind, Kingswood also offers a host of other programs and events for kids.  On Wednesdays, the John Wesley Choir meets from 5:00 – 5:45 p.m. to practice and perfect their singing for periodic performances at church services, while every Christmas and spring they put on special pageants.  Also on Wednesday nights is the WOW! program for kids in grades 1 – 5.  This is a special time of games and fellowship, videos and special programs.  Nursery services are also offered on Wednesday evening from 5:45 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Proverbs 22:6

Kingswood is also proud to charter units of all three divisions of the Boy Scouts of America  and to sponsor several troops of the Girl Scouts of the USA at the church.
