Women's Bible StudiesA monthly bible study group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, and focuses on a variety of interesting topics from both the Old and New Testaments. Weekly bible studies are also offered on a regular basis.
Coffee, Tea & TheeHeld regularly throughout the year, Coffee, Tea & Thee is a popular program in which a speaker from our church or community shares how Christ has worked in her life. Upcoming speakers, dates, times and topics are updated regularly on the Here’s What’s Happening! page, so please visit there often.
Small GroupsThe purpose of Small Groups is to organize informal gatherings of women for spiritual growth and mutual support. We begin in the fall by selecting a single publication (book, article, etc.) to study, and groups are offered at various times during the week.
Sisters-in-DeedThis outreach effort if intended to support the women of our congregation and surround them with love during life’s difficult times. For more information on the scope of this program, please contact Barbara Hoover in confidence.
Prayer MinistryKingswood’s Women’s Ministry maintains an ongoing prayer chain by email to lift each other up in prayer. In the fall, groups meet at the church at various times to pray. Please call Kim Wilson for days and times. You may also send prayer requests to pray@kingswoodumc.org.
Sew & So ForthWomen from Kingswood meet on the second Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am till noon, gathering together for fun and fellowship while we work on individual knitting, crocheting or needlework projects. This group is open to anyone who wishes to learn these skills and we welcome anyone with or without experience. Current projects include making prayer blankets, nursery blankets and preemie caps. Please contact Anna Belle Pyle for further information.
Preschool ParticipationWomen’s Ministry provides refreshments for Preschool teachers at the annual “Welcome Back” event in the fall, as well as welcome festivities for new Preschool families.
Craft OutreachJoin us for fun and exciting craft projects. Informal classes are offered throughout the year. A random sampling of classes includes quilling, Thanksgiving and Christmas card creations, and chocolate making. For scrapbookers, we present “Crop ‘Till you Drop” periodically. EVENTS
Fall KickoffThis Sunday afternoon gathering is designed to allow the women of our church to come together and learn what Kingswood’s Women’s Ministry has planned for the upcoming year. A new tradition was established this year with a “Tea at the Parsonage,” featuring both hold and cold (and sweet, of course!) varieties and a tasty array of finger treats, hosted by our Pastor’s wife.
Fall BrunchThe annual Fall Brunch – our largest event of the year – is held each November and offers the chance for the women of Kingwood to reach out to family, friends and neighbors and invite them to see what makes our group so special. Past programs have included fashion shows, nationally known Christian comedians and inspirational speakers.
Arts and Crafts FairThe Kingswood Arts & Crafts Fair is held each September on a Saturday from 9:00 am till 4:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. Browse the wares of talented local artisans, craftsmen, antique purveyors and more, all while getting a jump on your Christmas shopping. Kingswood’s Women’s Ministry also sponsors a popular casserole table with delicious homemade foods for sale. Better shop early though; the casserole table is usually the first to sell out!
Annual RetreatEach year in February, the Women’s Retreat is held at a breathtakingly beautiful natural venue that encourages spiritual growth and renewal. We consider it a special time for fellowship and friendship and encourage all of our female congregants, as well as their family and friends, to join us for this invigorating and joyful reaffirmation of our love for our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Spring AppetizerMmmmm, like to munch? Enjoy creative finger foods? If so, this is the event for you! Join us each spring to share some tasty treats deliciously prepared by members of our congregation while at the same time enjoying this unique opportunity to mingle and munch as you get to know your friends and neighbors at KUMC. |
